PERSUASIVE SPEECH

Scenario:

You are at an industry convention and have been asked to introduce your company’s initial product/service as the keynote speaker.  Craft a short persuasive sales pitch to this large audience of over 1000 potential customers to try to convince them to purchase your product/service.

Preparation & Execution:

• Develop a 90 second speech that strives to find the appropriate balance between describing the features of the product/service itself and the actual benefits of the product/service to the customer.
• Ensure you have adequate logos and ethos and a strong beginning, middle, end structure to guide your audience.
• The expectation is for you to speak without reading from a script. In other words, no notes.
• For additional tips, please refer to the “Persuasive Speaking” section on pages 189-219 in “A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking”.

 

Grading:

The Persuasive Speaking Assignment (External Audience) will be graded on a 100 point scale (see scoring rubric below).
